The pits..

Someone must have helped her escape. There was no way out other than the small black door that was only opened by their access cards. None of us could get out, get away from the torcher of them. We could only watch as new ones were thrown into the pit, as we called it. Some were old, some young. We were all the same to them. "Things," "its," and "monsters." Never seen as equals, or humans.
There was one human male that took a liking to her. Visiting and talking. She loved it when he came to see her. That was until they started to hit her. Every time he left they would take her out of her pit and we could hear her screaming and crying.
The last time any of us saw or heard her was one night, during the cold time when they put up those fire flies that stay in one place.
We were use to people coming and going, and sometimes never coming back. The only difference was that this time they were freaking out and yelling things that only some of us could understand. I wasn't one of those who could under stand. I never had the chance to learn their voice, and when i asked someone who did understand he just said:
"She got lucky."
I was confused at first, but not i know that she escaped, and if only she knew how lucky she was. Or maybe she did know.
She had been gone for more than ten light changes. My little brother keeps asking me if she is going to come back for us. I just told him i don't know.
One day they came in and started to yell at us. The fat human male started to walk along our pits. I knew this all to well, they were looking for someone to make disappear. I hid my little brother behind me as they started to pass. Fatty stopped and looked at me. He said something i couldn't understand and opened our pit's door. He then said something to me.
"I don't understand," i said standing protectively in front of little brother. This must have displeased him greatly because he grabbed my by my throat and threw me to the ground. My brother screamed, and fatty looked at him, pointed and yelled at his underlings.
"NO!" I screamed, "take me in stead!" I pulled little brother behind me and looked at them with pleading eyes.
"No! Don't-," my brother started but i cut him off.
"Don't worry about me. Find my friend and she will watch over you until i get back ok?" I got down to his eye level. His big brown eyes started to water, "don't cry. I will come back. Just find my friend and we will all get out of here like She did." My brother just nodded and backed into the far corner of our pit. The fat man grabbed my hair and pulled me to the black door.
We never saw each other ever again. I wonder if he ever got out alive. I wonder if any others escaped. But i still wonder what happened to that girl who they got all worked up over. Did they ever find her? I would hope not. So she can tell everyone what was happening in the pits.
